Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 30 September 2026

1. ABOUT THESE TERMS

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the website, services, programmes and activities provided by Acumo Music Academy Ltd (“Acumo”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

Our services may include music tuition, concerts, competitions, festivals, academies, masterclasses, artistic mentoring, audition preparation, study-abroad and conservatoire guidance, and other music education and related services.

These Terms apply when you:

• use our website;
• make an enquiry;
• book or purchase a service;
• register or apply for a programme;
• enter a competition;
• participate in an event or activity; or
• otherwise enter into an agreement with Acumo.

Some programmes, competitions, concerts, festivals or other activities may also have separate rules or specific booking conditions. Where this is the case, those specific terms will apply in addition to these Terms.

If there is a conflict between these general Terms and specific written terms issued for a particular programme or event, the specific terms will apply to that programme or event.

3. WHO MAY USE OUR SERVICES

Some Acumo services are available to adults, while others are designed for children and young people.

Where a participant is under 18, a parent or legal guardian may be required to:

• make the booking or application;
• agree to these Terms;
• provide necessary information;
• make payments;
• provide permissions or consents where required; and
• remain responsible for communications relating to the child.

By booking or applying on behalf of a child, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.

Age limits or eligibility requirements may apply to particular competitions, programmes, masterclasses, festivals or other opportunities. These will normally be stated in the relevant programme information.

4. BOOKINGS AND APPLICATIONS

Submitting an enquiry, registration or application does not necessarily guarantee a place.

A booking or place is confirmed only when Acumo has confirmed acceptance and, where applicable, received any required payment.

For selective activities such as competitions, festivals, academies, concerts, masterclasses or artist programmes, Acumo may consider factors including:

• age;
• musical level;
• repertoire;
• submitted recordings;
• availability;
• suitability for the programme;
• programme capacity; and
• artistic or educational considerations.

We may decline an application where a programme is full or where we reasonably consider that the programme is not appropriate for the applicant.

Where selection is involved, submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance.

5. PRICES AND PAYMENT

Prices will normally be provided on our website, booking page, application materials, invoice or other written communication.

Unless otherwise stated, prices are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP).

Payment may be required:

• at the time of booking;
• upon acceptance;
• by invoice;
• according to an agreed instalment schedule; or
• by another method communicated by Acumo.

A booking may not be confirmed until the required payment has been received.

Where payment is overdue, we may reasonably suspend future services or withhold a place until payment is made.

We will not impose additional charges that have not been disclosed before the customer agrees to purchase the relevant service.

6. CONSUMER CANCELLATION RIGHTS

Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you may have under UK consumer law.

Where you enter into an eligible service contract with us online, by telephone or otherwise at a distance, you may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days from the day after the contract is entered into.

If you ask us to begin providing the service during this cancellation period, we may ask you to expressly request early performance.

If you later exercise a statutory cancellation right after the service has started, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for services already supplied.

Where a service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following your express request and acknowledgement, your statutory cancellation right may cease.

The statutory 14-day cancellation right does not apply in every situation. In particular, certain services relating to leisure activities supplied for a specific date or period may be exempt. This may include some concerts, events, festivals, masterclasses or similar fixed-date activities.

Any statutory rights you have will apply regardless of any separate cancellation arrangements described below.

7. ONE-TO-ONE MUSIC LESSONS

Lessons may be provided face-to-face or online.

Lesson arrangements, including teacher, duration, location, frequency and fees, will normally be agreed before lessons begin.

Students should arrive or join online lessons at the agreed time.

If a student arrives late, the teacher may not be able to extend the lesson beyond the scheduled finishing time.

Where a student wishes to cancel or rearrange an individual lesson, we ask that at least 48 hours’ notice is given wherever reasonably possible.

Where less than 48 hours’ notice is given, Acumo may charge for some or all of the missed lesson where the reserved teaching time cannot reasonably be reallocated.

We will take account of relevant circumstances, including emergencies and exceptional situations, when applying this policy.

If Acumo or the teacher needs to cancel a lesson, we will normally offer:

• a replacement lesson;
• an alternative suitable arrangement; or
• a refund or credit for the affected lesson.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory consumer rights.

8. ONLINE LESSONS

For online lessons, students are responsible for having:

• a suitable internet connection;
• an appropriate device;
• suitable audio and video equipment where required; and
• an appropriate environment in which to participate.

Where an online lesson is significantly disrupted because of a technical problem within Acumo's or the teacher's reasonable control, we will try to provide an appropriate replacement, credit or alternative arrangement.

Where disruption is caused solely by the student's equipment or internet connection, we may not be able to provide a replacement lesson.

We will nevertheless try to act reasonably according to the circumstances.

9. CHILDREN AND ONLINE TUITION

Where lessons or activities involve children, parents and guardians remain responsible for ensuring that the child has an appropriate and safe environment in which to participate.

For online tuition, a parent or guardian should be reasonably available where appropriate having regard to the child's age.

Parents and guardians must provide accurate contact and emergency information where reasonably requested.

Acumo expects all teachers, students, parents and participants to communicate and behave appropriately and respectfully.

10. COURSES, PROGRAMMES, FESTIVALS AND ACADEMIES

Specific courses, festivals, academies and programmes may have their own:

• application deadlines;
• eligibility criteria;
• payment schedules;
• cancellation arrangements;
• repertoire requirements;
• attendance requirements; and
• programme rules.

These will be communicated before or during the booking or application process where applicable.

Where no separate cancellation policy is provided, Acumo will deal with cancellation requests reasonably, taking into account:

• how much notice has been given;
• whether costs have already been committed;
• whether the place can reasonably be offered to another participant;
• services already supplied; and
• applicable consumer law.

Any cancellation charge will be intended to reflect reasonable losses or costs rather than operate as a penalty.

11. COMPETITIONS

Competition entrants must comply with the eligibility criteria and rules published for the relevant competition.

These may include requirements relating to:

• age or category;
• repertoire;
• performance duration;
• application deadlines;
• recordings;
• documentation;
• entry fees; and
• attendance.

Entrants are responsible for ensuring that application information is complete and accurate.

Acumo may disqualify an entry where there has been:

• material false or misleading information;
• failure to meet eligibility requirements;
• serious breach of competition rules;
• plagiarism or fraudulent material; or
• serious inappropriate conduct.

Where artistic assessment or judging is required, decisions will be made by the relevant adjudicators or selection panel.

Artistic assessments are necessarily matters of professional judgement. Except where there has been an administrative error, procedural irregularity or breach of the published rules, judging decisions will normally be final.

Entry to a competition does not guarantee a prize, award, performance opportunity or progression to a later stage.

12. COMPETITION AND APPLICATION FEES

Where an application or competition entry fee is charged, the purpose of the fee may include administration, assessment, processing and programme costs.

Once assessment or administrative processing has materially begun, an application fee may not necessarily be refundable if the applicant later withdraws.

However, any refund or cancellation arrangement will be applied fairly and subject to applicable consumer law.

If Acumo cancels a competition or programme and does not provide a reasonable alternative, affected participants will normally be entitled to an appropriate refund for the service not provided.

13. CONCERTS, EVENTS AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Tickets, registrations or participation in concerts and other events may be subject to additional event-specific terms.

Event dates, times, venues, artists, teachers, repertoire, adjudicators or programme details may occasionally need to change.

Where reasonably necessary, we reserve the right to make changes while seeking to preserve the overall nature and quality of the event.

If a material change significantly affects what has been purchased, we will consider an appropriate alternative or refund where required.

For fixed-date leisure activities, statutory cooling-off cancellation rights may not apply.

This does not affect any other legal rights you may have.

14. CHANGES OR CANCELLATION BY ACUMO

Occasionally we may need to:

• change a teacher;
• alter a venue;
• change a schedule;
• amend programme content;
• replace an artist, adjudicator or tutor; or
• postpone or cancel an activity.

We will only do so where reasonably necessary.

Where a significant service is cancelled by Acumo and no reasonable replacement is provided, we will normally refund the amount paid for the part of the service that has not been provided.

Minor programme or timetable changes will not automatically give rise to a right to cancel where the overall service remains substantially as described.

15. EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR REASONABLE CONTROL

Acumo will not be responsible for failure or delay caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

These may include, for example:

• severe weather;
• transport disruption;
• venue closure;
• illness or emergency;
• government restrictions;
• public health emergencies;
• power or internet outages;
• industrial action;
• security incidents; or
• other unavoidable or extraordinary circumstances.

If such circumstances materially affect a service, we will take reasonable steps to communicate with participants and, where appropriate, offer rescheduling, an alternative arrangement, credit or refund in accordance with applicable law.

16. STUDY ABROAD AND CONSERVATOIRE GUIDANCE

Our study-abroad and conservatoire services are intended to provide educational guidance and support.

This may include assistance with:

• school or conservatoire research;
• programme selection;
• application planning;
• portfolio preparation;
• audition preparation;
• application materials;
• timelines; and
• general admissions strategy.

Admissions decisions are made by the relevant educational institution, not by Acumo.

We therefore cannot guarantee:

• admission;
• an interview or audition;
• a scholarship;
• a particular examination result;
• a visa;
• immigration permission; or
• any other specific outcome.

Students and families remain responsible for checking official requirements and deadlines issued by schools, conservatoires, universities, examination bodies and relevant authorities.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Acumo does not provide regulated immigration, visa, legal, tax or financial advice.

Where specialist advice is required, you should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional.

17. ARTIST SUPPORT AND MENTORING

Artistic mentoring, audition preparation, repertoire advice, portfolio reviews and similar services involve professional and artistic judgement.

We aim to provide services with reasonable care and skill, but artistic and professional outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Advice may reflect the professional opinion of the teacher, mentor or adviser and may differ from the views of another professional, adjudicator, institution or selection panel.

Participation does not guarantee:

• competition success;
• admission;
• professional representation;
• employment;
• performance opportunities; or
• any particular artistic outcome.

18. STUDENT AND APPLICANT MATERIALS

Students and applicants may provide materials such as:

• recordings;
• videos;
• photographs;
• repertoire lists;
• CVs;
• personal statements;
• portfolios;
• examination information; and
• application documents.

You confirm that you are entitled to provide these materials to Acumo.

You retain ownership of your original materials.

By submitting materials, you give Acumo permission to use them only as reasonably necessary to:

• assess an application;
• administer the relevant service;
• provide teaching or mentoring;
• organise an event or competition; or
• otherwise fulfil the purpose for which they were submitted.

We will not obtain ownership of your original work merely because it is submitted to us.

19. PHOTOGRAPHY, AUDIO AND VIDEO

Some concerts, competitions, festivals, masterclasses and other Acumo activities may be photographed, filmed or recorded.

Where reasonably practicable, participants will be informed if official recording is expected.

Where consent is required for a particular promotional use, we will obtain appropriate permission.

For children and young people, consent may be requested from a parent or guardian where appropriate.

Separate photography or recording arrangements may apply to individual events.

Unauthorised commercial recording of Acumo events may be prohibited.

20. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Unless otherwise stated, intellectual property rights in the Acumo website and materials created by or for Acumo belong to Acumo or the relevant rights holder.

This may include:

• branding;
• logos;
• website content;
• written materials;
• programme materials;
• graphics;
• photographs;
• videos; and
• educational resources.

You may use our website and materials for personal and non-commercial purposes associated with the relevant Acumo service.

You must not reproduce, distribute, sell, commercially exploit or substantially modify Acumo materials without permission unless permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of a student's own original musical, written or artistic work to Acumo.

21. ACCEPTABLE CONDUCT

We expect students, parents, guardians, teachers, artists and other participants to behave respectfully.

We may take reasonable action where there is:

• threatening or abusive behaviour;
• harassment or discrimination;
• deliberate disruption;
• serious misconduct;
• damage to property;
• behaviour that creates a safeguarding or safety concern; or
• serious or repeated breach of programme rules.

Depending on the circumstances, action may include a warning, removal from an activity or termination of participation.

Where participation is terminated, any refund will depend on the circumstances, services already supplied, reasonable losses and applicable consumer law.

22. SAFEGUARDING AND SAFETY

The safety and wellbeing of children and participants are important to us.

Participants and parents or guardians must provide relevant information reasonably necessary for Acumo to organise activities safely.

Parents and guardians should inform us of relevant accessibility, medical or support requirements where reasonably necessary for participation.

Where Acumo has a safeguarding concern, we may take reasonable action to protect a child or participant, including contacting a parent, guardian, venue, relevant professional or appropriate authority where necessary.

23. ACCESSIBILITY AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

If you or your child has an accessibility or additional requirement relevant to participation, please tell us as early as reasonably possible.

We will consider reasonable arrangements and will try to accommodate requirements where practicable.

We cannot guarantee that every venue or third-party facility can accommodate every requirement, but we will seek to provide accurate information and reasonable assistance.

24. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND VENUES

Some Acumo services may involve third parties such as:

• concert venues;
• educational institutions;
• teachers;
• examination organisations;
• payment providers;
• accommodation providers;
• event partners; or
• technology platforms.

Third-party services may be subject to their own terms and conditions.

Where Acumo is itself responsible for supplying a service to you, the involvement of a third party does not remove any legal responsibility that Acumo may have for that service.

Where you enter separately into a contract directly with a third party, that third party's terms will normally govern that separate contract.

25. WEBSITE USE

You may use our website for lawful personal and informational purposes.

You must not:

• use the website unlawfully;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or associated systems;
• introduce malicious software;
• deliberately interfere with website operation;
• scrape or systematically copy content for commercial purposes without permission; or
• use Acumo's name, content or branding in a misleading way.

We may suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect the website, our users or our systems.

26. WEBSITE INFORMATION

We take reasonable care to keep information on our website accurate and current.

However, programme dates, fees, teachers, artists, availability and other details may change.

Where website information forms part of a confirmed booking or contract, we will comply with applicable consumer law relating to information provided about the service.

General website content should not be treated as professional legal, medical, financial or immigration advice.

27. EXTERNAL LINKS

Our website may contain links to websites operated by third parties.

These links are provided for convenience or information.

We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

You should review the relevant third party's terms and privacy information before using their services.

28. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU

We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill as required by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:

• death or personal injury caused by negligence;
• fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
• statutory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made or losses caused by circumstances for which we are not legally responsible.

Where you use our services wholly or mainly for business purposes, different legal rules may apply.

29. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

You are responsible for:

• providing accurate information;
• meeting relevant application deadlines;
• attending confirmed lessons or activities;
• complying with programme and venue rules;
• checking information provided to you;
• informing us of relevant changes;
• obtaining required travel documentation where applicable; and
• complying with the requirements of third-party institutions where relevant.

We are not responsible for problems caused primarily by materially inaccurate or incomplete information supplied to us.

30. PERSONAL INFORMATION

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.

Our Privacy Policy explains:

• what information we collect;
• why we use it;
• our legal bases for processing;
• how information may be shared;
• how long information may be retained; and
• your data protection rights.

Please refer to the Privacy Policy available on our website for further information.

31. COMPLAINTS

If you are unhappy with an Acumo service, please contact us so that we have an opportunity to resolve the issue.

Please contact:

contact@AcumoMusic.com

Please provide enough information for us to understand the issue, including the relevant service or booking where appropriate.

We will aim to consider complaints fairly and respond within a reasonable period.

32. REFUNDS

Where a refund is due, we will normally return payment using the original payment method where reasonably possible.

Refund processing times may depend on banks or payment providers.

Any deductions from a refund will only be made where permitted by law and, where relevant, will reflect services already supplied or reasonable costs or losses.

33. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect:

• changes to our services;
• operational changes;
• changes to our website;
• legal or regulatory developments; or
• other reasonable business requirements.

The version that applies to a particular booking will normally be the version in force when that booking or contract was made, unless a change is required by law or is expressly agreed with you.

The latest version of these Terms will be published on our website.

34. SEVERABILITY

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

Any invalid provision will be treated as modified only to the extent necessary for it to be valid and enforceable where legally permitted.

35. NO WAIVER

If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not mean that we have given up the right to enforce it later.

Likewise, allowing flexibility on one occasion does not necessarily require us to do so on another occasion.

36. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms and any contract between you and Acumo are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you will continue to benefit from any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.

Consumers may bring legal proceedings in the courts available to them under applicable law.
